U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance: — The Iranians, while technical talks with the United States for peace continue, declare: No, no, there are no peace talks underway. — This is both interesting and disturbing. These are Iranian negotiating tactics and rhetoric that I cannot fully comprehend.

US Vice President J.D. Vance: The technical talks with Iran are based on the negotiations we have conducted previously. President Trump wants the negotiating track with Iran to continue with verifiable commitments. We must verify the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program through continuous inspections. President Trump has asked us to use the Memorandum of Understanding to restore the global economy's supply of oil and then see how things develop. We have two options: either pursue a long-term agreement with Iran, contingent on a change in its behavior, or consolidate the gains we have made. There is still a degree of uncertainty, and no one can be certain of what the Iranians will do.

FWD from SNN International: Vance's claim: The Lebanon-Israeli morning agreement and the Iran-US memorandum of understanding both emphasize respect for Lebanon's territorial integrity! US Vice President: If you put the Lebanon-Israeli peace agreement together with the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, what both of these documents essentially say is that Lebanon's territorial integrity will be respected. So there have definitely been a lot of changes. The question is whether these changes will be sustainable and lasting or not.
