Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Majlis National Security Commission, said on Sunday, September 19: "The agreement on the Strait of Hormuz was supposed to be unveiled in Muscat in the presence of a number of countries on the southern edge of the Persian Gulf so that everyone would be informed about it, but it was postponed. If we are sure that the Omanis took this action under the influence of the Americans, this will definitely not be in the interest of our friendly, neighboring and brotherly country, Oman, the security of the region, and especially the Strait of Hormuz." Azizi said that the Islamic Republic will not allow the Americans to return to the Persian Gulf region and that renegotiating with the United States "does not make any sense." He also said that if membership in the NPT no longer serves the interests of the Islamic Republic, Tehran will make an "appropriate decision."

Live: Oman-Iran meeting on Strait of Hormuz postponed
YESIran Foreign Ministry91%match11¢-100%
Meeting of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the media, Monday, September 13, 1405, answer to the first question: If I were to start from the end, the point that was raised regarding the criticism of the performance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; everyone knows that decision-making on foreign policy and national security issues is not one-dimensional and one-component, where you make decisions on very sensitive and complex issues related to the national security of the country based solely on one component. The price of oil rose today; therefore, you cannot simply say that you should make a decision or not because of the rise and fall of oil. Another point is that I would like to repeat the statement that I always repeat here. We should not question our own logical and forward-looking actions because of the ill-considered actions of others or the breach of promise of others. The fact that Iran and Oman, as two coastal states, made a decision on an issue that concerns them exclusively, reached an understanding on a text, and then want to present their understanding in a meeting with the presence of the countries of the region, in line with a responsible and far-sighted approach, I think is in line with the wisdom of its decision-makers. What has been agreed between Iran and Oman regarding the determination of safe shipping routes is related to coastal states; their sovereign rights and sovereignty have been taken into account, all aspects of the work have been achieved after weeks of negotiations between the two countries, and it was intended that this issue would be raised solely at this meeting. This was an opportunity that Iran and Oman provided, and it was expected that the countries of the region would be opportunistic and appreciate such opportunities. If they really believe that we should sit down as permanent neighbors, despite all the arguments we have had, despite all the complaints we rightly have about the actions of some of these countries, and talk about creating a safe zone, away from destructive external actors, this would be a very good opportunity. I don't think any responsible party would accept that we should miss this opportunity and not hold this meeting for any reason, whether it's because of influence from parties outside the region or because of excuses that really have nothing to do with Iran. The news that has been raised, yes, is true; that Saudi Arabia requested that this meeting not be held for the time being. The discussions that are being raised about the attribution of the events that are taking place between them and Yemen are really giving the wrong address. By giving the wrong address, the problems will not be solved. The problems in Yemen have long-term roots. As the Islamic Republic of Iran, we have always said, tried, and shown in practice that we are ready to help resolve the issues. We said that the roadmap that was understood between you and in which we had no role or intervention, should be the basis for your talks to resolve the issue. We know very well that the continuation of the war in the region between Islamic countries has only one winner, and that winner is none other than the Zionist regime, which seeks to continue tension and insecurity in our region, between Islamic countries. As for what we will do in the next steps, I said that the understanding between Iran and Oman, as two coastal states, has been finalized. We will decide, in consultation with Oman, on the next step, how to announce or register this understanding, and we will be informed. @MFAIran [in reply to: Meeting of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the media, Monday, September 13, 1405, first question: Mr. Ali Bek, Director General of the Persian Gulf Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced in an interview with IRNA that this meeting has been postponed at the request of some countries in the region. First, please provide the exact reason for this postponement or cancellation. Some sources also claimed that Saudi Arabia postponed this meeting or requested that the meeting not be held due to the targeting of its own oil pipelines. Can this news be confirmed? And that some also claimed in this situation that this meeting and its announcement caused the price of oil to decrease and had criticisms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government; and that basically why do we want to negotiate and have conversations with these countries, while they themselves are accomplices of the United States? And finally, in the current situation, given the finalization of the agreement, should we wait for a new format for the announcement or not? @MFAIran]

How did this market resolve?

This market will resolve to “Yes” if a diplomatic agreement between Oman and Iran over traffic in the strait of Hormuz is announced by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. A diplomatic agreement refers to an official agreement, treaty, deal, or substantially similar diplomatic instrument that establishes agreed actions, policies, obligations, or commitments between Oman and Iran. A qualifying diplomatic agreement must establish Iranian or Omani policies, obligations, or commitments aimed at managing, permitting, restoring, or increasing vessel or shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, including agreements defining vessel traffic corridors, fee collection policies, or other management policies. All listed countries must announce their acceptance of the same qualifying diplomatic agreement for the Payout Condition to be met. A joint announcement will qualify, as will separate announcements from each entity of its own acceptance of an agreement which, taken together, directly indicate that all the listed countries accepted the same agreement. Separate announcements of individual policies will not qualify if the policies are not announced as part of a diplomatic agreement. Each announcement must be a declarative statement that clearly and unambiguously communicates acceptance of an agreement. Statements that reference ongoing negotiations or a prospective agreement, or that allude to or express support for an agreement without confirming acceptance of the agreement, do not qualify. A qualifying announcement need not reference the agreement by name or use specific terminology, provided it clearly communicates acceptance of an agreement. Whether announcements from the listed countries represent a diplomatic agreement and whether such an agreement qualifies will be primarily determined through the announcements themselves. Where an announcement is made by all listed countries but, based on the announcements, it remains ambiguous whether the announcements represent a qualifying diplomatic agreement between the countries, this market will remain open until either i) definitive confirmation that the announcements represent a qualifying diplomatic agreement between the listed entities is achieved through further announcements from the listed countries or a consensus of credible reporting or ii) 14 calendar days (ET) have passed after the date that the last country made their first potentially qualifying announcement. If, at the end of the fourteenth calendar day, no definitive confirmation has been achieved, this market will resolve based on the totality of information available from the resolution sources at that time. No single statement, denial, or presentation of evidence will govern where it is contradicted by the totality of information. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of Oman and Iran and a consensus of credible reporting.
