The UK has approved the $110 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros., CNN reports. "We have approved this agreement as it does not raise competition concerns in the UK. The evidence shows that Paramount will continue to face adequate competition in the different industries in which it operates following the merger," the Competition and Markets Authority said in a statement. Paramount also provided a number of guarantees, including maintaining "the separate editorial identity of its key services and the editorial independence of its news." These assurances were proposed to be made legally binding. Paramount announced the acquisition of Warner Bros. on February 28. The agreement ends trade disputes after Netflix rejected the latest offer to buy Paramount. As a result of the deal, Paramount will receive the rights to such franchises as Fantastic Beasts, The Matrix, Dune, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones. More IZ RU news in MAX
