Nvidia has reached an agreement with AI startup Poolside: - Pay $6 billion to license its technology (Model Factory) and hire over 100 engineers. - Invest an additional $1 billion, acquiring a stake at a pre-fundraising valuation of $12 billion. - Most engineers will join Nvidia's Nemotron open-source weighted model project, aiming to create one of the world's most powerful open-source models. Purpose: To compete with open-source models from Chinese companies like DeepSeek and Kimi, while also challenging closed models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Open-source models are low-cost and easily customized, helping to build an open AI ecosystem in the US. Poolside's founders (including the former CTO of GitHub) will not join Nvidia, and the company will continue to operate independently. This reflects Jensen Huang's desire for Nvidia to maintain a dual-track strategy of hardware and open-source models to ensure market dominance. The agreement stems from Poolside's previous failed fundraising and insufficient computing resources, making Nvidia an ideal partner.

If two or more models are tied on rank, they will be ordered by their Arena score, including any underlying, unrounded, granular values reflected in the data below the leaderboard. If a tie still remains, alphabetical order of company names as listed in this market group will be used as a final tiebreaker (e.g., if the two models are tied by exact arena score, “Google” would be ranked ahead of “SpaceXAI”). This market will resolve based on the company that occupies first place under this ranking. The resolution source for this market is the arena.ai Text Arena (Overall). If this resolution source is unavailable at check time, this market will remain open until the leaderboard comes back online and will resolve based on the first check after it becomes available. If it becomes permanently unavailable, this market will resolve to "Other".
