The US State Department has ordered diplomats to use the term "superintelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence." "Following the President's [Donald Trump] address to the UN General Assembly, please replace all references to 'artificial intelligence' with 'superintelligence' in our documents and position papers on various issues. Going forward, we will use the acronym SI in all statements, position papers, and press materials," the State Department said in an email. The email is titled "Nomenclature Change: AI to SI." It is unclear whether other State Department bureaus will follow suit. During his address to the UN General Assembly on September 22, the American leader announced that he would officially rename AI. He explained that the "artificial" in this phrase "makes intelligence fake."
