Who won the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina? The convincing victory of the allies of former Republika Srpska (an entity within BiH) President Milorad Dodik was quite unexpected, according to Oleg Bondarenko, founder of the Balkanist project: it was expected that Dodik's allies and opposition candidates would be neck and neck. The victory of the SNSD, Cvijanovic, and Minić is a positive outcome for Moscow and Belgrade in the elections in Republika Srpska, says the political scientist. The state structure of BiH is such that every nation has the right to veto any decision by the authorities, so all decisions must be made by consensus. This could partially hinder the desire of Croats and Bosniaks to lead the country along a more pro-Western course, Bondarenko notes. Daryana Filipović, representing the Croatian part of the population of BiH, is a supporter of Brussels' sanctions policy towards Russia, but at the same time, the balance of power "in the presidium has not changed in any way - any attempts to promote anti-Russian and anti-Serb initiatives at the highest level in BiH will be blocked," says Yakov Smirnov, a researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
