A supporter of the Palestinians and a proponent of ending unconditional US military aid to Israel, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, an American physician of Egyptian descent, is on track to become the first Muslim member of the US Senate.

NBC News predicts that Abdul Sayed will win the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan, establishing a foothold in the Midwest for the progressive left, which is gaining ground in this midterm election cycle. Sayed overcame an outside financial onslaught of approximately $65 million and the support of the political establishment, which had rallied around his opponent, Haley Stevens.
