Iran launched an attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting retaliatory strikes from the US military. Details of the first escalation since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran. The past few hours have witnessed an escalation between Iran and the US, the first since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties in Switzerland. It began with Washington accusing Tehran of attacking one of its commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which prompted a US response in the form of strikes on several targets. This was followed by an Iranian response, with Tehran claiming to have attacked US sites, according to Iranian state media on Saturday. Iran considered the US strikes against its territory a "flagrant violation" of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries. Trump commented on this escalation, calling it a "clumsy violation," while his Vice President, Vance, warned that violence would be met with violence.

One of the drones hit the upper deck of a very large and expensive cargo ship with great force. Damage was caused, but the ship was able to continue on its way. We intercepted three more drones. This is clearly a foolish violation of our ceasefire agreement."]

Iranian Revolutionary Guard: - The Revolutionary Guard Navy bombed positions of the terrorist US military in the Strait of Hormuz in response to the recent aggression. - The US regime, as usual, violated its commitments a few hours ago and launched an airstrike on the Islamic Republic's coast under a different pretext, namely, a ship crossing an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz. - The US violation came after the Zionist entity violated the ceasefire in southern Lebanon. - We warn that if the aggression is repeated, our response will be much more severe. - According to Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the arrangements for monitoring traffic in the Strait of Hormuz are made with the Islamic Republic of Iran. - But America was trying to violate this commitment by inciting various parties, and the necessary response was given, and this will be the case from now on.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Iranian forces conduct a kinetic strike on or seize control of a commercial ship on the specified date IRST (UTC +3:30). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Attacks on military vessels will not be considered. Only military actions by Iranian forces explicitly claimed by the Islamic Republic of Iran or confirmed to have originated from Iranian territory or been carried out by Iranian forces will count toward the resolution of this market. Attacks by proxy forces (i.e. Hezbollah, Houthis, etc.) will not count toward the resolution of this market. Missile/drone strikes targeting a ship that are intercepted or otherwise do not directly impact the vessel will not be considered, regardless of damage through debris. Seize control refers to Iranian forces forcefully boarding and taking control of a commercial ship. Qualifying incidents include, but are not limited to, drone and missile strikes, aerial bombings, and kinetic actions carried out by Iranian operatives in person, such as seizing a ship by force. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting. If a kinetic incident occurs, but, on the specified date, 11:59 PM IRST, material ambiguity remains as to the exact timing of the incident, or whether the incident can be attributed to Iran, this market may remain open for an additional 3 calendar days, IRST.
