US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Drop to 289.7 Million Barrels According to the latest official report from the US Energy Information Administration and Strategic Petroleum Reserves, the composition of current reserves includes 98.7 million barrels of sweet crude oil and 191 million barrels of sour crude oil. Energy market analysts believe that the continuous decline in the volume of US strategic petroleum reserves to below 290 million barrels has greatly increased the risks of energy supply for this country in the event of unexpected geopolitical crises.
