The Iranian rial falters against the dollar... and Tehran fails to stem the currency's decline despite injecting $2 billion. The Iranian rial continued its slide to a new record low as the US naval blockade of Iranian ports persists. The Iranian central bank announced it would inject up to $2 billion in an attempt to support the local currency and halt its decline. The Iranian economy is facing increasing pressure as a result of sanctions and the US naval blockade, coinciding with the continued depreciation of the rial. Tehran and Washington continue their confrontation amid military escalation and economic pressure, further straining Iranian markets.
The devaluation of the Iranian national currency continued on Saturday, October 11, and the price of the US dollar in the open market crossed the 270,000 Toman mark for the first time. Based on the rates announced on Saturday afternoon, the selling price of the dollar reached about 271,000 Tomans and the euro reached more than 305,000 Tomans. This is while on Thursday, the price of the dollar in the open market was reported to be about 258,000 Tomans; Thus, the dollar has increased by more than 13,000 tomans, equivalent to about five percent, in two days. The increase in foreign currency prices continues even though the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic announced on Wednesday that it plans to issue two billion dollars in banknotes to the market. The judiciary has also announced that it will deal with channels and pages that it calls "false currency pricing." The Iranian economy is simultaneously under pressure from the war with the United States, sanctions, and increasing restrictions on foreign trade resulting from the naval blockade. The value of Iran's national currency has decreased by more than 31 percent since July 13, when the US naval blockade against Iran began. @VahidHeadline @VahidOnline

It took the dollar 309 days to go from 100,000 to 150,000 tomans and 209 days to reach 200,000 tomans. It took just over a month to go from 200,000 tomans. Each new threshold has been broken earlier than the previous one, and in parallel, the ear-piercing sound of the rial's death knell has become louder every day. In this episode of Abacus, Mohammad Mashinchian examines the relationship between the dollar's exchange rate and the price of goods, and predicts the dollar's future path.
