McDonald's announced a slowdown in sales growth for the second consecutive quarter, a further indication that consumer spending in the United States is being affected by rising fuel and food prices. The company said that sales at its U.S. restaurants rose 0.8%, slightly below analysts' expectations, as a rise in average order value partially offset a decline in customer visits, according to Bloomberg. Internationally, sales were roughly in line with market expectations, supported by growth in Germany, Australia, the UK, and Japan, while China saw a decline. CEO Chris Kempczinski indicated that McDonald's sees an opportunity to strengthen its performance in the United States, emphasizing that the company is working to accelerate growth in its largest market. To attract customers, McDonald's expanded its value meal offerings in the U.S., including a $4 breakfast and options under $3, and launched promotions in other markets, linking some of its products to cultural events. And sports, including the World Cup #Arabic_Business
